Next stop - Zero Waste

in News

As you have probably already noticed, at ZEACHILD the top priority is not the spread of the brand but the philosophy and our message to pay more attention to our environment. Therefore, I would like to share a few thoughts and everyday hurdles with the topic of plastic.
It all started with the documentaries you can see on my other blog.
Frightening images of garbage-polluted beaches and stretches of sea opened my eyes and I decided to develop in a zero-waste direction. I've noticed this while traveling, but I was naïve enough to think it was the locals' fault.

1. No more unnecessary plastic packaging:

Plastic bottles, plastic bags, plastic packed in vegetables and much more. were the beginning of my zero-waste movement. Today I only buy drinks in glass bottles or use my stainless steel drinking bottle to refill. I exchanged plastic bags for cloth bags and fruit and vegetables, which you often only get in plastic in wholesale, are now only available from the farmers' market or the Market Hall Innsbruck.

2. Stop sucking!

In most bars, festivals & co you often get drinks with plastic straws, which are disposed of immediately after single use. Here it's just a matter of time No thanks!

3. Tupperware for TakeAway

Another problem that arises relatively often for me is lunch. Since I very often have less time to prepare something the day before, I often get a bite of Vapiano, baguette, etc. As is well known, you can get a disposable plastic Tupperware here for takeaway. I asked the staff if you could fill up Tupperware you had brought with you and got a positive answer. In this concept I can only do that Small & fine in Innsbruck who share this tactic. There you bring your own Tupperware and have it filled with your regional delicacies. If you don't have one, you will be given one and can return it. The same can of course be used with meat & co.

4. Microplastics in the bathroom

Admittedly, I still have room for improvement here, but I try my best! :) Peelings, toothpastes and much more. with microplastics don't come into my bathroom anymore. In particular, I find the idea of brushing my teeth with plastic very disturbing. For shampoos & shower gels there are also soaps that are not packaged in plastic. I haven't tested it yet - but that's my next step. Cotton pads were also a troublemaker for me. They are made of organic cotton, but I couldn't avoid the plastic packaging. So I made reusable cotton pads out of old towels and I'm really happy with this solution.

5. SEPARATE & RECYCLE WASTE

I can tell what I want, the most important thing is and will probably remain the separate mill. Even if it's annoying, you're not only doing the environment a favor, you're doing yourself a favor. #spreadlovenottrash

I've seen a big and definite change in my consumption and while I still have a lot to learn, I'm really proud of myself! :)
